How To Control Cockroaches
Cleanliness
Every crumb or drop of food spilt on a
countertop pr floor is a potential meal to a roach. Its impossible to keep
a 100% sanitary home but try to limit what is spilt. Store food in
insect proof containers with tight fitting lids. Remove trash as soon as
possible. Clean cracks and crevices in floors and counters.
Traps
Place sticky traps strategically in your home.
Follow the manufacturers recommendations for proper placement. These traps
have the benefit of also removing the roach body. This can prevent
possible allergic reactions to the dead insects.
Cracks
Seal cracks going in and out of your home and
underneath cabinets and wall spaces with caulk or expanding foam spray.
Make sure that window screens are in good shape. If you cannot seal a
crack, line it with roach boric acid or insecticide gels.
Water
Eliminate sources of water for roaches. Fix
leaky pipes and empty refrigerator pans. Remove any areas of standing
water.
Exterminators
Have a local exterminator visit your home on a
regular basis. It is much easier and cheaper to prevent infestations than
it is to eliminate them.
